MISI Entertainment Interviews Gudda Gudda [@IMGUDDAGUDDA] from Young Money

Interview

MISI: How’s it going Gudda? Thanks for taking the time to interview with us; it’s definitely a pleasure.

Gudda: Everything’s good

MISI: You have come a long way from Sqad up how has life changed now that you are a Young Money artist?

Gudda: Squad Up was like straight hood gritty shit; not taking away from Young Money, but Young Money has different avenues from kids to singers, females, & R&B. They have all types of different things going on.

MISI: Tell me three things about you and your music that separates you from other artist in the industry?

Gudda: I’m versatile artist. I really stick to making nice, street hip hop and i take my time putting out my tapes.

MISI: You are currently working on a new mixtape coming soon and then you will be working on your debut album. How do you prepare for writing for a mixtape versus an album?

Gudda: There’s no real difference except deciding on which producers can capture the feel of how I hear the album sounding.

MISI: Lil Wayne has dropped a successful album with “Tha Carter lV” Drake and Nicki Minaj both have also dropped successful albums. Do you feel any pressure in following up with a successful album?

Gudda: Nah, no pressure at all. I make sure my music is top grade work before I even tell anyone about it, plus YMCMB will never release anything that isn’t up to par, so no pressure because we take our music seriously. And if the music is real people will feel it.

MISI: We are all fans of Hip Hop music however do you feel Hip Hop still lives throughout the music industry?

Gudda: I feel Hip Hop never died, it’s alive and on its way to be the top genre in the world.

MISI: If you had the opportunity to work with any artist in the industry who would it be?

Gudda: I feel like I’m working with some of the best in the game now, but outside my camp I would have to say Hov, Jada, Budden, and Wu Tang.

MISI: If you had the chance to get with any celebrity female in the world who would you choose?

Gudda: Ummm….Nicki lol. Nah, thats my homegirl. I love her like family, but I would have to say Rihanna #heyboo lol.

MISI: If you weren’t rapping what field would you most likely be working in?

Gudda: Whatever gets me money. My dream wasnt to be a rapper. I just happened to know how to rap, its a gift. I rap my life stories and experiences, nothing more nothing less. I’m a hustler. I grind for every dollar I make, but with the money I have been seeing from this music shit, I’ve really been getting into and learning a lot about real estate.

MISI: What inspired you to be an artist? Who are your musical influences?

Gudda: I never thought of myself as an artist. I just started messing around with it and Wayne must have heard something in my music because he’s the reason why Im rapping today. My influences would be Cash Money; niggas were real. They came from the same beginnings as me. Gotta respect that and they hustle.

MISI: If I were to turn on your iPod right now, what 3 artist would I see in your most recently played list?

Gudda: Well, the first artist off hand would be Cash Money; niggas were real.  Next I would say Short Dawg and Wayne.

MISI: What kind of advice can you  give an artist trying to pursue a music career?

Gudda: Basically to stay focused and grind hard. Nothing goes unnoticed if you keep at it.  Sleep when you’re dead. Hustle and Grind. It pays in the end.

MISI: Lastly, are there any shout-outs that you want to throw out

there?

Gudda: Yeah, first I wanna shout out the team YMCMB, CeCe Vance (Publicist) and the whole Vance NyCC, and of course the fans.

Biography

Carl Lilly Jr., born March 11, 1983 in San Jose, California but raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, is better known to his fans by his stage name Gudda Gudda. He is an American rapper who was given the opportunity to showcase his talents under the guidance of Hip Hop superstar Lil’ Wayne by signing to his non stop hit making label Young Money Entertainment. He first became acquainted with Lil’ Wayne when he was a member in the group Sqad Up, but due to complications beyond any one’s control, Lil’ Wayne saw it fit to extend an invitation to this naturally talented artist to become a member of Young Money.
Gudda Gudda released his first solo mixtape, Guddaville, in September 2009 and had previously released one back in 2008 with rapper Lil’ Flip entitled Certified. With the success of both mixtapes, his career has only taken a turn for the best. From his heavily anticipated LP to him touring with Lil’ Wayne on his “I Am Music 2″, it is not hard to see that there are many great things in store for Gudda Gudda in the near future.

Exclusive Interview Session With Singer-Songwriter @NateLarsonmusic

Atlanta-born/ Orlando-raised singer-songwriter Nate Larson is poised to take the industry by storm with a dynamic Billboard-bound vocal style. “Maybe some would put into the blue eyed soul box,” he concedes. “But I’m much more than that.” Flaunting a musical style described as R&B with a pop edge, Nate has managed to tap into his broad range of musical influences while bringing a remarkably fresh sound all his own.
In the summer of 2010, Nate released his eponymous debut EP on his own NLM Media via Island Def Jam Digital Distribution. Recorded between New York City and Atlanta, Nate Larson is an impressive collection of high-powered pop-R&B ballads and bangers produced by esteemed industry vocal coach/ songwriter Robert “RAab” Stevenson (Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson) and Drake Murphy. From the blissful, guitar-driven “Perfect Picture” to the buoyant cut “Miss America,” the 8-track EP is a mere sample of Nate’s nascent talent and potential as a pop artist and hit-making songwriter.

Interview

MISI: When did you realize that you wanted to sing?

Nate: I always loved music but knew I wanted to sing when I was about 14.

MISI: Has any racism played apart in your music career?

Nate: I personally have never encountered racism in my career and I am grateful that it is a testament to the times we live in.

MISI: How was it working with Drew Ramsey and Shannon Sanders?

Nate: Drew and Shannon are incredibly talented and also two of the most humble people I have ever met. Although their achievements speak
for themselves, they are fantastic to work with.

MISI: How was it grow ing up

in Orlando?

Nate: Growing up in Orlando was great because it was a melting pot and I was exposed to different cultures of music. It was just a
great place to grow up.

MISI: Top 3 albums of all time and why?

Nate: Thriller is one of my top albums of all time because although it is a perfect album it not only gave me a guide of quality to go by at the same time it broke down barriers long standing in the music industry. The societal impact it had was just as important as the music. Prince’s Purple Rain was also one of my top albums because he showed that you could mix all your musical influences to make something new and fresh and it was also the perfect storm of music and it had a huge cultural impact. My third top album of all time would be James Brown Live At The Apollo. It is a defining live album that was a showcase of not only his influence on every R&B artist to come but how to put on the best live show ever.

MISI: What do you want your fans to know about you?

Nate: I love music and want more than anything to share my music with my fans and hope that they feel the same way.

MISI: If there was something you can do differently about your music career what would it be?

Nate: I am incredibly happy where I am in my career and I really wouldn’t change a thing. I look forward to continuing to grow and develop
as a artist.

MISI: Is there any female artist you would love to do a duet with?

Nate: I would love to work with Melanie Fiona or Adele. They both have beautiful soulful voices and are great talents.

MISI: If you could go back in time what artist, producer or writer would you have worked with?

Nate: I would love to have worked with Michael Jackson or Donny Hathaway.

MISI: Lastly how can the public keep up with you?

Interview

MISI: How’s it going Phelora? Thanks for taking the time to interview with us; It’s definitely a pleasure…again. (LOL)

Phelora: Everything is good, I’m fine. No problem, its been a pleasure.

MISI: It’s been a long time since our very first interview. How has life been for you?

Phelora: Life has its up and downs, but most of all its great.

MISI: For those who don’t know Phelora Elle by all means tell them who you are.

Phelora: Well, I am a girl that is Peacefully Honoring Everything Life Offers, Reaching Ahead, Exceedingly Learning Life Experiences.

MISI: Now we all know what inspired you to be a model, but what inspires you to keep doing what you do?

Phelora: My mother. Most Haitian parents pressure you to be a doctor or lawyer, but she inspires me because she still supports me which is very uncommon in the Haitian community. I want to prove to my mother, don’t care what your friends say, your daughter is still successful even tho I’m not giving flu shots for a living.

MISI: The last time I talked to you on Twitter you discussed a appearance on a TV show, is TV something you are looking to get in to?

Phelora: I appeared on Ice Loves Coco as one of her models for her clothing line launch, and I was on Project Accessories, a new spin off of Project Runway. I would love to be on tv, just working my way up. Hopefully the producer of Law and Order is reading this lol

MISI: You have such an amazing natural beauty what are 5 things that you do in preparing for a night out?

Phelora: 1. I take forever, 2. listen to music while I get ready, 3. Go threw 6 different wardrobe changes lol, 4. Hair and make up, 5. Kiss my mom good night

MISI: If you weren’t modeling what profession would you most likely be doing?

Phelora: I honestly don’t know. From the 3rd grade, I’ve wanted to be a model. I like to talk and debate so maybe a lawyer.

MISI:What would you say is your dream shoot that you would like to do in the future?

Phelora: Anything with Vogue is my dream shoot.

MISI: You were the lead model in JNan’s video “Nothing on me” featuring Bobby V how were you able to get plugged with that?

Phelora: Mmmmh. I guess I know the right people or the right people know me lol.

MISI: I looked at the behind the scenes of the video and it looked like you guys had a lot of fun what was that experience like?

Phelora: It was my first music video , it was a fun and good experience.

MISI: You know I have to ask this question for all the men out there; what type of guy gets your attention?

Phelora: Educated, handsome guys, preferably tall lol

MISI: Five years from now, where do you see yourself?

Phelora: I see myself owning my own business.

MISI: Many people think that modeling is easy which I know is hardly the case what would you say is the most challenging part of being a model?

Phelora: Well honestly, being black is the hardest thing, but that’s in almost any field. Blacks have to always prove themselves, and I don’t mind doing so.

MISI: I get people who say to me that modeling is nothing but a bunch of women who don’t have any self respect. What do you say to that?

Phelora: That’s bullshit lol. I feel like people who make all type of false allegations towards models are insecure. A lot of people try to make a model’s life miserable. They are simply jealous because they think that models are paid to be beautiful and its more than that.

MISI: What do you say to models out there that feel in order to be noticed they have to be half naked with their ass all over the place or nude?

Phelora: If you want to be noticed, get an agency. Then your agent/booker tells you what to do. Most likely it will be to go to castings, not to be nude.

MISI: Lets say you had 3 wishes and that you can wish for anything you want what would it be?

Phelora: 1. This race thing in fashion needs to be over, 2.Perfect health, 3. For God to keep blessing me.

MISI: Lastly are there any shout-outs that you want to throw out there?

Phelora: I want to shout out Soulgee Mcqueen,my mom and my friends.
